Have we reached a tipping point in the battle for the Democratic nomination? Up until now, the titanic struggle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton has captivated much of the country, leaving the Republican contest something of a side show. With George W. Bush's poll ratings in the doldrums and the Republicans bracing for a 2006-style drubbing in November's congressional elections, all the stars have seemed aligned for a Democratic president.
A significant number of democrats will vote for McCain if their candidate of choice does not become the nominee. Things are looking great for John McCain, who's been meeting with world leaders and already establishing his presidential street cred.
The Rev Wright story is not going away because it goes to the heart of Obama's (poor) judgment and character, the platform he's running on-you can't smooth over 20 years of attending a racist, anti-American church by turning on the charm. As for Shrillary, she's got enough skeletons in the closet that can be trotted out to cause irreparable damage to her candidacy.
Great gallup poll from the same article.

About the only people it isnt going away for are for people who "knew" Obama's judgment was poor before really learning anything about him.
Some of the statements are controversial but your assertion that his church is either anti-American or racist, just highlights your ignorance on the matter. Where did you "learn" that? From a tiny snippet and some right wing declarations?
McCain's religion depends upon who is asking, up til now he has always described himself as an Episcapalian who happens to attend a Baptist church for the past several years, now that he is running for President suddenly he is a Baptist - which has more political leverage with the voters.
In 2000 he called out several rightwing fundamentalist preachers "extremists" that were damaging America, this tiem he took time to cow tow and claim it was all just a misunderstanding.
He sought the support of a preacher who is an anti-Catholic zealot, then claims its all just a matter of context, despite it being nothing of the sort.
If the people want 4 more years like Bush then McCain is their man, whether or not they are personally friendly, McCain is offering policies just like Bush - if you can take him at his word, but many conservatives do not. You might want four more years of a slightly different version of Bush - the vast majority of Americans clearly do not.
That doesnt mean that McCain wont win as he may be able to pull off another GOP PR obfuscation and character assassination of the opposition, but your dismissal of the opposition is a bit premature to say the least.
Judge not lest...
Perhaps you might want to learn something from someone who has actual been a member of the church for over twenty years before you judge so hastilly...
Rev. Wright in a different light
As long as you judging others religious choices from afar perhaps you should go back to your church and see what they have to say about judging others. If its Christian like Obama's church you might find that Jesus didnt support such a judgmental attitude of other people.
1.2-Real, look who's dreaming, Rev Wright is Titanic Obama's iceberg-the only place he's going is back into the cold murky depths of obscurity that he came from. Did you get a load of his arrogant and angry wife? lol Its clear who holds the whip in that relationship.
All I can say is that you Obamaniacs are delusion since you don't realize how deep the damage was. I couldn't be happier when I heard Obama state he couldn't disown his pastor. You guys remind me of the Ron Paul crowd, stubbornly refusing to accept reality.
1.3 Catch-so what if McCain has endorsements from crazy right wing Christians, its not as if he attended a white supremacist church that blames blacks for America's ills or says we deserved 9/11.
Wright has said enough things that couldn't be excused as one-off errors in judgment, rather it established a pattern of hard left, hateful anti-American thought. His affiliations with Khadaffi and Farrakhan was just icing on the cake and confirmed his attitude.
I know both liberals and conservatives think they have the majority on their side and their candidate will win the election. I base my analysis on the evidence-Obama cannot recover and no one likes Shrillary.
Also the democrat protest votes (if their preferred candidate is not the nominee) will only benefit McCain. Plus if there's any major terrorist attack, people will automatically vote conservative. I want Obama to be the Dem nominee, it'll make for a very entertaining national election.
look who's dreaming,
You are either dreaming or delusional:
Rev Wright is Titanic Obama's iceberg-the only place he's going is back into the cold murky depths of obscurity that he came from.
not as if he attended a white supremacist church that blames blacks for America's ills or says we deserved 9/11
Repeating the same tired propaganda and strawmen dont make them any less false.
McCain has been demonstrably hypocritical and embraced those with extreme views. On the other hand we have your dreams and imagination about Obama. So long as you are accusing others of dreaming, you really should have a reality check. You keep forgeting to provide any actual facts.
